3 questions to Marc Guilliou from Metal Sounds

Winter NAMM Show 2017The Metal Sounds team is coming back from a long journey. We participated in the Winter NAMM Show 2017 in Los Angeles, to present the news around the Spacedrum© handpan and the Zenko© steel tongue drum.

This event is a global hub for instrument makers and professional musicians. The Metal Sounds team answers a few questions following their return from Los Angeles.

1. What are the motivations for your participation in the Winter NAMM Show 2017?

Musical instruments manufactured by Metal Sounds are already distributed in Europe and Asia but not in America. We were at Los Angeles to find new partners.

The NAMM Show is one of the 3 major international fairs (with Musikmess in Frankfurt in April and Music China in Shanghai in October) where most of the music companies are meeting eachothers. Metal Sounds is duty bound to have a booth in these places.

2. What encounters and discoveries did you make during this international convention?

As expected we have met American professionals and many music stores and distributors from the whole world. We have realized how much our instruments are interesting for people and we have been warmly welcome. We have now a new challenge to face up: respond to this increasing demand!

3. What are the new developments planned for 2017? At which festivals or meetings does Metal Sounds take part?

2017 will be the year of news: new manufacturing process, instruments with pick-up and special microphones, and prestigious endorsements and partnerships. We shall be present at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in april, at Musicora (Paris, late april) and probably at the Shanghai Music fair (october).

We keep on supporting the Handpan Festival (Valras Plage, France, june) and the festival “We are nice people” for its second edition (Lacroix-Falgarde, France, july). You can also meet us all along the year, between an african djembe and a brazilian surdo, at the fabulous Djoliba Percussions music store (Toulouse, France).
